The
Landsat Program is a joint initiative of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to gather Earth resource data using a series of satellites. NASA has been responsible for developing and launching the spacecrafts, while the USGS is responsible for flight operations, maintenance, and management of all ground data reception, processing, archiving, product generation, and distribution. The primary objective of the Landsat Program is to ensure a collection of consistently calibrated Earth imagery.
Some
entities in Idaho have chosen to make Landsat imagery they have
purchased available here. Note that image contributors have chosen to make
their imagery available one of two ways:
-
They have provided an email address and
interested parties may contact them directly for a copy of the
image.
-
They have archived the image on CD-ROM
at the University of Idaho Library. Interested parties may
request a copy of the CD-ROM from the UI Library (how do I
do that?).
