2006 Digital Orthoimagery for Idaho Acquired Under the National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP)

NAIP 2006 Home

The NAIP (National Agricultural Imagery Program) acquires digital ortho imagery for agricultural areas during the agricultural growing seasons in the continental U.S. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Service Agency (FSA), in cooperation with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), invited the State of Idaho and other partners to participate with the collection of natural color, digital ortho imagery for 2004 for all land in Idaho. This partnership will provide new digital imagery for the state enterprise GIS framework layer benefiting Idaho agriculture, public safety, transportation, and other users of spatial data

What data are available?

Compressed county mosaics (CCMs) are available for the agricultural areas of all counties in Idaho with the exception of Shoshone. All data have a 2-meter pixel resolution, are in UTM projection NAD83 datum, and are in a MrSID format (15:1 compression). The compressed county mosaic may contain defects and have horizontal accuracy less than the specified tolerances.

CCMs in IDTM83 projection were created by the Idaho Department of Water Resources.

Compressed quadrangle mosaics (CQMs) were created by the Idaho Department of Water Resources as well.  They cover 30' x 60' USGS quadrangles, are in IDTM83 projection, are in a MrSID format, and are seamless at all tile boundaries.

How can the data be acquired?

The data are available online for download. Mosaics range from 86Mb to 1.6Gb]. If you have difficulty downloading any of the files contact Bruce Godfrey
