Find GeoData

You can find downloadable GIS data sets a few different ways.  Tables of data are available for browsing data sets in various ways. Additionally, you can perform a text search on a character string.

Lastly, you can perform a national search using Geodata.gov.  This link provides access to a collection of spatial data servers (of which INSIDE Idaho is one), that have digital geographic data primarily for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), image processing systems, and other modeling software.

Many data tables containing the following columns:   

Column Explanation
Name The title of the data set
Extent The area that the entire data set covers
Projection The data set projection with a hyperlink to the projection parameters
Graphics A hyperlink to a browse graphic for the data set
Metadata A hyperlink to the metadata for the data set
Data A hyperlink to either:

  • The compressed file containing the data set.  These are non-series data meaning that one file covers the extent.  
  • Another web page that allows you to select which individual data set you want from the data series.  These are series data meaning that more than one file covers the extent.
Publisher The data set publisher with a hyperlink to their home page

Additionally, many different organizations have contributed data to INSIDE Idaho.  Data users should be sure to check the metadata and acknowledge those agencies who are creating and maintaining these important data sets.
