  Bear data are based on a direct-mail questionnaire to license buyers.
  Mountain lion data prior to 1975 are based on conservation officer reports; figures for 1975 and later are based on mandatory hunter check-in.
[1] Based on direct-mail questionnaires to tag buyers. Prior to 1979, hunter report cards were also used to gather data.
[2] 1979 harvest data are based on a survey of tag and permit holders using a telephone contact system, except for mountain lion and bighorn sheep data which are based on mandatory hunter check-in.
[3] Includes harvest during archery hunts.
